TRAVEL BURSARIES & BILLETS MAKE IT
EASIER FOR US TO GET TOGETHER

We are so excited to be with you at the upcoming We Together conference, where Anglicans from across our region will come to learn, worship, pray and share with one another as a diocese of islands and inlets. Our keynote speakers are Professor Michelle LeBaron who is an expert in social cohesion and the arts and Mr Adam Olsen who has done extensive work in relation to the recommendations of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC). There are also eighteen workshops to choose from on a wide-variety of topics.

BILLETS NEEDED

We are a geographically large diocese, and it's important that we support each other in attending community-building events like We Together. That's why we are working to offer billets for this and future events. When you register for the conference, you will be asked if you need a billet or if you can provide a room for someone to stay. If you live in the greater Victoria area, please consider this act of hospitality prayerfully. If you are unable to attend the event, but have a space to offer, please contact planning committee member, Trish Stock.

If you are parish administrator or incumbent of a parish in the greater Victoria area, please help us by including the following request for billets in your Sunday announcements through to the end of August, and speak to it each Sunday at worship, encouraging your members to participate in this way.

Bulletin insertion: The We Together 2017 conference planning team is looking for volunteers living in the Greater Victoria Area who are willing to billet folks from across the diocese wanting to attend the September 15-16 diocesan conference being held at Christ Church Cathedral and School. Please contact the synod office toll free 1.800.582.8627 or email conferences@bc.anglican.ca for more information.

BURSARIES AVAILABLE

The second way we are working to shorten the distance between us is by offering travel bursaries to attend the conference. In keeping with our diocesan vision and our desire to engage God's world by being responsible custodians of the environment, we encourage individuals and parishes to work together to carpool, whenever possible, to events like We Together. When this is not possible, or the costs of accommodation and/or transportation, or just the cost of registering for an event make it prohibitive for you to attend, we still want you to come. That's why we are offering a limited number of Vision Fund bursaries of (up to) $125/person. When you register for the conference you will have an opportunity to apply for a bursary. These will be offered on a first-come-first-served basis, so register early! We also encourage parishes to continue to financially support members to attend whenever possible.

God is calling us to be ministers of reconciliation (2 Cor 16-20) in our selves, our homes, our churches, with all nations and beyond. Come, be renewed in your heart and spirit for this important work.

Bulletin Insertion: Want to attend the We Together diocesan conference September 15-16 at Christ Church Cathedral? There are 18 workshops to choose from and two keynote speakers. Register before September 8 at eventbrite.ca  using the search term "We Together 2017" or contact the parish office or synod office for assistance.
