It is with sadness that we announce the Rev. Trefor C. Williams passed away peacefully at the age of 99 in the Palliative Care Unit at Nanaimo Regional Hospital on May 15, 2026.

Trefor is survived by his wife of 40 years, Barb, his three sons: Chris (Sharon), Jim (Isabel), and Stephen (Akash); two grandchildren Michelle (Colin) and Teresa (Paul), three great-grandchildren; his sister Anne; and his nieces and nephews (Dewi, Leah, and Sharon). He will be fondly missed by loving friends and extended family.

Trefor was born in Beaumaris, Wales, UK. He served in the merchant navy before his calling to the Anglican ministry. He and his young family moved to Canada to join the Columbia Coast Mission on Cortes Island, BC. Trefor later served many years as the prison chaplain at the Vancouver Island Regional Correctional Centre. Over the years, he lived in Campbell River, Victoria, and Gabriola Island, before settling in Nanaimo.

He was part of many communities, including L’Arche, Faith and Sharing, Tai Chi, and numerous church communities. Whether as a minister, a father, or a friend, he touched countless lives with his faith, humour, kindness, and gentle manner.

A celebration of life, with Eucharist, will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, June 13, at St. Philips-by-the-Sea Anglican Church, 7113 Lantzville Road, Lantzville. All are welcome.
