Today, the bishop announced that Brian Evans is stepping down as diocesan stewardship officer effective April 30, 2018.
After a very brief (10-day) retirement as incumbent at St Paul, Nanaimo, Brian accepted my appointment to this newly-created role in the life of the diocese. Since assuming this role in September, 2017 Brian has:assisted the diocese in the first phase of development of our long-term financial plan we are calling “Transforming Futures”; met with parishes and attended regional gatherings to hear concerns and ideas about the plan; worked with General Synod to prepare the way for the distribution of a national stewardship program to our parishes, and provided input into the financial case for support, which will undergird our fundraising efforts.
Brian will remain on, in a non-stipendiary role, as part of a stewardship team that will support parish-based education activities across the diocese. Over the coming months, as part of our ongoing vision implementation activities, Brian, along with other diocesan leaders, will continue to develop and roll out our long-term financial plan in three key areas: fundraising, stewardship education and planned giving.
