St. Philip is a Christ-centred Anglican church community of approximately 200 people of all ages. We are a welcoming and vibrant congregation, meeting for worship three times on Sundays, at various times throughout the week and on special occasions and holidays. We are well engaged in local community outreach and in local and global community missions.

At St. Philip, there are as many as 30 diverse young members (ages 12-16) looking for an enthusiastic and engaging individual to lead in ministry to their spiritual and social needs. The youth ministry leader will work in a cooperative relationship with other church leadership and will be accountable to, and in regular communication with, the incumbent.

The youth ministry leader will be responsible for administering programming for St Philip youth:

  • Weekly: Preparing and leading Sunday morning worship, teaching and discussion. Sunday morning youth ministry will take place in the church building, but in a room separate from the main sanctuary worship
  • Bi-weekly: Planning and leading Saturday evening social engagements. Social activities are age-appropriate and may held in various venues.
  • Annually or semi-annually: Organize and lead weekend retreats, which may be held in various venues.

We believe the ideal candidate for this position will be mature and have a passion for Jesus Christ that is expressed in an inclusive, thoughtful, non-dogmatic and non-judgmental manner. A heart for young people and a passion for youth ministry are the most important qualifications, and it will be helpful to have experience in youth ministry. The successful candidate need not have an Anglican church background. The candidate is welcome and encouraged to participate in St. Philip community life and this position is ideal for someone looking to integrate into a local church community.

In exchange for providing this leadership to our youth, the monthly compensation will be $1000.
The successful candidate must complete a criminal record check and meet the Anglican diocesan Safe Church program requirements.

The position start date will be the beginning of January 2020.
