Associate Priest, Half-time
January 29, 2018
The bishop of the Anglican Diocese of British Columbia seeks a half-time priest for St. Anne and St. Edmund, Parksville. Our diocese is on an exciting journey to become renewed people with renewed hearts and renewed spirits.
Located in the heart of Oceanside on the east coast of Vancouver Island, St. Anne and St. Edmund has been a presence in Parksville since 1894. We continue to enthusiastically embrace opportunities to share the Gospel with those who come through our doors. We have 250 names on our parish roll, 108 who attend worship frequently, and an average Sunday morning attendance of 55, including a small core group of youth, children and younger families.
A resort and retirement area on Vancouver Island, Parksville is a growing and thriving community with a population of over 12,500. The community has numerous resorts and parks along its coastline and is a haven for those who want to enjoy the British Columbia lifestyle.
As part of articulating our mission and vision, our parish is working at becoming a centre for spiritual growth, compassionate action, and creative arts. The parish has a long history of working with and in the community. We are looking to invite a priest who will form a team with the present incumbent in all aspect of parish ministry with key emphasis on pastoral care and year-round programming.
We have embraced our diocesan vision to be a reconciling community, particularly in our relationships with the First Peoples of this island. We value a balanced and light-hearted approach to work and worship and want to be an inclusive community where joy and love thrive. We seek to reach out and within, deepening our faith story, reflecting Christ to all we meet.
If your priestly vocation aligns with where God seems to be leading us, and you are ready to join us in the continual work of being a centre for action and contemplation, we want to hear from you.
